One of my favorite races of 2019 was the Dogs on the Run 5k in November. It was a teaming up of two of my favorite groups: Five Star NTP & the Humane Society of Forsyth County (GA).
Y’all already know that Five Star is my favorite racing company. I met them even before I started running when I was a volunteer coordinator for a local non-profit. Once I started running about 10 years ago, their races were the ones I liked the most. I like the Starr family and that the company is a multi-generational family business. They offer a variety of reasonably priced races year round and many that benefit non-profits. Which leads me to my next favorite…
My husband and I are volunteers for the Humane Society of Forsyth County. Specifically, we are cat & kitten fosters. We’ve been doing this for about 6 years and love it so much! The Humane Society does incredible work on behalf of dogs and cats in north Georgia. For more information about their programs, adoptions, volunteer opportunities and donations, check out their website at www.forsythpets.org.
The Dogs on the Run 5k benefitted the Humane Society and I was very happy that my favorite running company teamed up with my favorite non-profit. My worlds collided in a good way!
Leashed dogs were not only welcome to run with their owners, they were also eligible for awards. The Humane Society had a Kissing Booth where a beautiful 4-legged representative named “Spike” gave out good luck kisses to runners. A good time was had by all!
I’ve mentioned before that I love being able to support non-profits and charitable causes through running. It’s a beautiful collaboration. This was one of my favorites!
