Georgia is a beautiful state. We have the Blue Ridge Mountains in the north, the Atlantic Ocean in the south and lots of lakes & rivers in between. One of the things I’ve loved about running 5k’s over the years is seeing the beauty in our state.

This past weekend I did Five Star NTP’s Chasing Away Winter 5k in Dahlonega. The course is in the mountains within Camp Glisson, a United Methodist Camp. The mountains were brutal but the scenery beautiful. When you go as slow as I do, especially on the brutal hills, you take pictures along the way!

Another of my local favorite courses is West Bank Park on Lake Lanier. It’s flat and much more forgiving than the Glisson course. The Lake in the morning is beautiful, especially when the sky is clear and the sun is rising.

It’s truly a gift to be able to enjoy the nature around us. A little humor along the way doesn’t hurt!
